Research on Spatial Data Mining Techniques Based on Mineral Belts Foundation Database
Mineral resource forecasting is the application core of the Spatial Data Mining (SDM) techniques using in mineral resources fields. The foundation database for resource assessment about importance mineral potential belts of China centralized manages geo-data of 14 important mineral belts, including geography data, geology data, mineral deposits data, aeromagnetic data, gravity data, geochemistry data and remote sensing data. The aim of this project is to make full use of those data. Our work provides a data manipulation and analysis platform with me functions of accessing multi-source geo-data from massive spatial database, conversion, mining, and data analysis and visualization, which is also able to integrate multi-source spatial data and knowledge discovery. This paper will discuss theory and implement method of SDM technology used in the field of mineral resources prediction. Then, the special data mining system named MPBCDM has been established on the platform of MPBC (Database Management System for Mineral Potential Belt of China), which is based on the basic spatial database of mineral potential belts of China. The system is designed guided by mineral prediction theory and combines the geographic information system (GIS), component, spatial database and spatial data mining techniques. During the development of the MPBCDM, we choose ArcObjects, geodatabase data model and spatial data engine ArcSDE to implement the data mining system.
