Research and Application of Urban Water Distribution Network Management Information System Based on GIS

According to the analysis of characteristics of GIS and the increasing requirements for infonnatization in the water-supply companies, this article summarizes the developing course of informatization in Chinese water-supply companies. The results show us that that application of GIS in water-supply companies is more and more abroad, and deepen into the details. With the junction of theories and applications, we carried out studies on the urban water distribution network management information system, and analyzed its efficiencies. After the summarization of the features of water-supply GIS and its applications in water-supply companies, we pointed out the problems existed in current situation, and also the prospect for the future. We believe the water distribution network management information system can be more efficiently applied in the production, circulation and management of water-supply.
