Permafrost Distribution Exploration along Qinghai-Tibet Railway Using MODIS Data
Because the energy contradiction exacerbation of supply and demand and the trouble-free operation of Qinghai-Tibet railway from Geermu to Lhasa section, it has become more significant to develop new probing technique for gas hydrates and fast-lifetime monitoring technique for permafrost along Qinghai-Tibet railway. Using MODIS, paper retrieves mean annual ground temperature(MAGT) by means of general split-windows algorithm and merging prior knowledge, men using it as the index mark to divide the permafrost types along Qinghai-Tibet railway. The results agree with the permafrost distribution mapping(Lanzhou institute of glaciology and cryopedology, Academia Sincia) and the achievements of field test. So authors think that it is feasible and reliable using MODIS to study preliminary the permafrost distribution along Qinghai-Tibet railway, and it provides the new technology for the temperature and pressure exploration of land gas hydrates and for the fast-lifetime monitoring of the safety of the Qinghai-Tibet railway engineer.
