Regional Flood Recession Analysis in the Oak Ridges Southern Ontario, Canada

As a kind of important disasters occurring across the world, flood has significant influence over our society. Owning to global warming, more and more floods may happen in the near future. In order to prevent flood disaster, it becomes more and more important to understand the flood mechanism including the flood recession process. This study aims to generate a regional recession model from the analysis of the flood recession process in 29 gauged basins in the Oak Ridges Moraine area, southern Ontario. Firstly, this study suggests that the one-parameter exponential recession curve is an appropriate model for the flood recession in the Oak Ridges Moraine area. Meanwhile, this study also tries to link the parameter values with basin characteristics, such as basin area, basin longest stream length, urbanized area percentage, etc. and develops a region model for the flood recession in the Oak Ridges Moraine area.
