Effect of Hole Blocking Layer on Lifetime of Organic Light-emitting Diodes
To investigate the effect of hole blocking layer on lifetime of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), we fabricated typical AIq3 based bilayer OLEDs containing a hole blocking layer of bathocuproine (BCP), which divides the Alq3 layer into recombination/emission layer and electron transport layer. We observed that the lifetime of the devices increased with the thickness of recombination/emission layer. The result suggests that the accumulation of holes and excitons in the recombination/emission layer may influence reversely the lifetime of the devices.
