A New Power-efficient High-voltage Driver for Bistable Displays
A big problem in portable applications like e-books and pdas (personal digital assistant) is the lifetime of the batteries. The power consumption of the battery is determined by the processing of the apparatus on one hand and by the driver of its display on the other hand. A reduction of the power consumption can be achieved by optimizing the display driver. In this article it will be proved that the energy consumed by the driver can be reduced for 50% by designing an intelligent driver that calculates the row and column waveforms for every image based on the several energy-saving principles.
