Analog Output Buffer-less and Area-efficient Source Drivers for Mobile Displays Using Low Temperature Poly-Si TFTs
This paper has proposed gamma-corrected 6-bit switched-capacitor D/A converters integrated using low temperature poly-Si TFTs. The proposed DACs are implemented with an external capacitor and parasitic capacitances which are generated by Vcom and data line on the panel. That makes it possible to integrate source drivers without analog output buffers. This would be a great advantage because source drivers output buffers are one of the biggest obstacles to the poly-Si TFT integrated circuits due to threshold voltage variation. We can also reduce the area of the circuits to about 70% compared to 6bit resistor-string DACs. For the source driver circuits of 2.2-incb qVGA (240×320) display, the simulated power consumption of the proposed DACs is about 6mW with the supply voltage of 10 V.
