A Driving Method for Field Emission Displays
The paper proposes a novel grayscale generation method for field emission display (FED), named as subsegments scheme. According to a certain ratio, the period of each scanning line is divided into corresponding subsegments. By compounding one or several of these subsegments, the grayscales are generated for the video display. With such subegment method, we accomplished to build the video display system based on the FED screen developed by Southeast University with screen printed carbon nanotube cathode (CNT). Both monochrome video display system (with resolution of 96 × 72, and frame rate of 60 Hz) and colorful video display system (with resolution of 96 × RGB × 72, and frame rate of 60 Hz) are accomplished.
