Trends in Backlights for LC-TV
Many companies have jumped into the backlight market for LC-TV , as it is considered to be extremely attractive with double-digit growth until 2010 and about $12. 5 billion sales in 2006 for all LCDs. In this paper some trends like scanning and 2D-dimming are considered. It is expected that LEDs will be a substitute for CCFLs in LC-TV backlights by 2010 , if the price of these solid-state light sources has come done sufficiently.
