Innovative Thin Film Transistor Technologies for Flat Panel Displays
Although amorphous silicon is clearly dominating the active matrix flat panel display market, interest in alternative thin film transistor technologies has been rejuvenated by ongoing developments in the area of organic light emitting displays and flexible displays. The Chair of Display Technology at Universitaet Stuttgart, Germany is actively investigating innovative thin film transistor technologies such as reduced mask count low temperature poly-silicon TFTs, micro-crystalline silicon and organic and carbon nanotube and their implementation in high resolution display demonstrators.
