Luminescent Tubes with Line-type Carbon Nanotube Cold Cathode and Reflecting Anode
Painting technology was effectively realized to fabricate the two-layer-structured line-type carbon nanotube (CNT) cold cathodes with silver paste sub-layer and CNT surface layer on nickel wire. The CNT surface layer was trapped on the silver paste layer after sintering process. The wires were modified by tape to remove part of the CNT layer and form dense and clean emission centers. The dense and clean CNT emitters on the surface of the nickel wire provided stable and homogeneous emission of 200 mA/cm2 at 3.1 V/μm. Luminescent tubes were assembled on a fluorescent lamp fabrication line with this line-type cold cathodes and phosphor tubes employing semi-cylindrical reflector as anode fabricated by conventional silver mirror reaction. The luminescent tube is environmentally friendly for being free of mercury, and its fabrication is low-cost and fully compatible with industrial production because of the simple painting processes and the glass to glass welding procedures.
