Drive Voltage Reduction of PDPs

Accompanied by an increase in the Xe partial pressure with an intention of improving both luminance and luminous efficiency , operating voltages of PDPs become higher. The lowering of the drive voltage can be achieved by introducing a high secondary electron emission dielectric material, providing priming particles, accumulating wall charges, reducing diffusion losses of charged particles, fabricating panels having uniform voltage characteristics across the entire panel, and also eliminating gas contamination. Reduction of operating voltages of PDPs especially for high Xe content panels will be discussed considering sustain and address operations.
