Chromaticity Coordinates Simulation for Twisted Nematic Type LCD Module
A well-organized color simulation system for a twisted nematic display has been successfully established to predict color coordinates and its corresponding color saturation of the eventual module prior to the panel manufacturing. The framework of this simulation system is built on the concept of colorimetry and takes the spectrums in a sequence of backlight, test cell that consists of liquid crystal sandwiched between two glass substrates accompanying with alignment layer inside and crossed polarizers outside and color filter into account. For the sake of simplicity and accuracy, a time-exhausted spectrum collection of a test cell may in principle be omitted and theoretically replaced by the Gooch-Tarry formula. The less than 0.0068 and 0.46% deviations in respective color coordinate and color saturation between the simulation results and the real module validate the accuracy and adoptability of this simulation system.
