The Modified Tapered Macro-Gate ( TMG ) Structure for Field Emission Lamp Application
The CNT-FE lamp has been studied as a backlight unit of LCD in the recent. In case of FE lamp application, a wide spreading of e-beam is necessary to achieve a high luminescent and efficient lamp along with a high anode voltage, which is contrary to FED. The TMG has relatively tall and tapered holes, showing a high e-beam focusing and perfect shielding of CNT emitters from the anode voltage for field emission display. In this paper, we modified the TMG, called swing TMG, to have two separate gate electrodes at a given gate hole for FE lamp application and observed a wide swing of e-beam by the alternating driving of the two gate electrodes of swing TMG.
