Novel Structure of Cathode Electrode for OLEDs

In this paper, a new kind of cathode consisting of compound semi-conductor PbxTe which was deposited as a protection layer on top of Mg: Ag alloy (10:1) was studied. From the experiments, we have found that it can influence the performance of OLEDs obviously by changing the thickness of Mg:Ag and Pbx Te film. When the thickness of PbxTe is 100 nm, and Mg:Ag is also 100 nm, the performance of devices is the best. The luminance of OLEDs declines as a function of time at a constant current of 12 mA/cm2, and when the thickness of PbxTe is 100 nm, the luminance decays by about 20% after 200 h. It can improve the steability of the device, prolong the lifetime, and increase the contrast ratio by using of Pbx Te protection layer. The luminous efficiency can reach the maximum 3.02 cd/A, and while the voltage is 10 V, no matter the thickness of Mg:Ag increases or not, the luminous efficiency will be reduced.
