Enhancement of Power Efficiency and Brightness in Organic Light Emitting Devices Using Al2O3/ITO Anode
The thin aluminum oxide has been used as a buffer layer in bilayer organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs) with anaphtylphenyliphenyl diamine (NPB) and tris-8-hydroxyquinoline aluminum (Alq3) to improve the device efficiency. This thin layer was inserted between the anode and the NPB. The effect of the aluminum oxide upon the device performance was investigated. Its shown that the best results have been obtained on devices with 0.3 nm thick oxide film with an improvement of 30% on luminance. It is believed that this nanometer thick insulator technology is of great importance of the OLED because its simple and efficient.
