Optical Characteristics of Oxynttride Phosphor for Solid State Lighting Application

Recently, nitride phosphors have drawn a big attention for solid state lighting application. They have excitation band near visible light, which is appropriate for blue LED, and emits relatively long wavelength which ranges from orange to deep red. Besides, they have high thermal resistance and are chemically stable. However, research activity on this material may be restricted by difficulty in forming single phase. Conventional solid reaction leads to multi phases and designed efficiency could be hardly achieved. In this note, multi reaction steps were taken to get oxynitride phosphors. Raw materials were reacted to oxide and then further reaction carried out for oxynitride phosphors. Our results show various bands of excitation and emission spectra, depending on the anions and cations. However, more delicate synthetic routes have been remained unsolved for single phase oxynitride luminescent materials.
