An Application of Electrophoretic Display in Large-area Screen

A large-scale (1 m × 1 m) microencapsulated electrophoretic display screen had been developed for the outdoor information displays, in which synthesized nano-particles were employed as the electrophoretic display material. The display has 200 × 192 pixels and the thickness of the display is less than 1 cm. The electrophoretic display screen is driven using 12 V DC voltage. The working current is about 60 mA when the display content is refreshed, while the average driving current is about 20 mA. Also, the display have a wide viewing angle, higher contrast ratio and memory. In addition, eight-level grayscale images were achieved by using pulse modulation driving method.
