Development of PNLC (Polymer-network Liquid Crystal) Materials for Mobile Application
Polymer-composite-type liquid-crystal films are considered to be a candidate for reflective direct-view displays in mobile applications because they are polarizer-free LCDs. However, We have developed advanced PNLC materials achieving 5 volts of driving voltage in the operating temperature range from -20℃ to 60℃. This free from temperature dependence was realized by lowering glass transition temperature of three-dimensional polymer networks formed into a continuous liquid crystal layer.
