Electro-optical properties of PEHPB
Poly (2 - ethynyl-N-hexylpyridinium bromide) was synthesized under mild reaction condition. This was done by polymerizing 2 - ethynylpyridine and the corresponding n-hexyl halides directly. Neither additional initiator nor catalyst was used in the process and the polymerization gave high yield of polymer. The polymer structure has the conjugated polymer backbone system having N-hexylpyridyl moieties. The electrochemical properties of the polymer were measured. The photoluminescence peak of PEHPB appeared at 603 nm when the photon energy was 2.06 eV.
