Effects of SiO2 Nanoparticles on the Electro-optical Properties of Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal Films
Polymer dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) films were prepared by ultraviolet light induced polymerization of photo-polymerizable monomers in nematic liquid crystal (LC)/monomers/SiO2 Nanoparticles composites, and the effect of SiO2 oanoparticles on the electro-optical properties of PDLC films have been studied. The observed effect shows that by adjusting the SiO2 nanoparticles content, the refractive index ratio of the LC and polymer could be modulated, and the electrooptical properties of the film could be optimized.
