Optoelectronic Devices Using Blends of CdSe Nanocrystals and Poly ( N-vinylcarbazole)
CdSe nanocrystals were synthesized in aqueous solution by using L-cysteine hydrochloride as the stabilizer, which were transferred from aqueous solution into organic solvent by using a surfactant. Optoelectronic devices were fabricated by using the blends of CdSe nanocrystals and poly( N-vinylcarbazole) (PVK) as an emissive layer, and the optoelectronic properties of the device were studied. The EL peak of the device shifted to the longer wavelength with the increasing mass ratio of CdSe to PVK, and a little blue-shift was observed as the applied voltages increased, suggesting a more PVK contribution to the EL spectra at higher applied voltage. The threshold voltage of the device was about 7 V and the maximum brightness of the device reached 22 cd m -2 at the applied voltage of 16 V.
