Lighting Temporal Modulation and Visual Performance
Three psychophysical experiments have been carried up to assess the effect of the temporal modulation of the fluorescent lighting at frequencies just above the critical fusion frequency upon visual performance, with simple tests of visual function. Two lighting conditions of were used: i) florescent lamps with magnetic ballast (MB) and ii) the same lamps with electronic ballast (EB). Results showed, not only significant differences among the lighting conditions, but also the possibility to identify more sensitive individuals to the effect, since the experiment puts on in evidence a specific sensibility.
