A Study on Measuring Forward Voltage to Get Junction Temperature of LED
This paper is aimed to show the method of measuring the forward voltage for more exact taking the junction temperature of LEO(Light Emitting Diode)s.Generally, we didnt take serious considerations of the thermal characteristics in sourcing low current to LED. But for using LED as BLU(Back Light Unit), display and illuminating light source, we should source 5~20 times or more current. This higher current produces more heat, raising the junction temperature of LED. These elevated temperatures can cause an increase in defects within the junction, which can lead to decreased performance, as well as a shortened lifespan. Therefore, we need to analyze the thermal characteristics of LED and package.
