Evaluation of annual interior lighting using multizones sky
The characterization of daylighting under overcast sky conditions provides only very partial information of the real contributions of daylight to estimate the utilisation period of electric lighting. In order to determine, on a step of more or less fine time and for one more or less long period, the requirements in terms for complementary electric lighting, a numerical simulation method based on a fine zoning of the sky was developed.Integrated into a simulation tool using hierarchical radiosity, the model of sky used is a sky made up of a great number of zones. While referring to hourly or half-hourly meteorological data, we calculate at every moment of the meteorological file the values of interior natural illuminance. The method can be used to take into account a mobile solar protection. The level of average illumination constitutes the main parameter of the interior luminous environment, but the same method can be used to analyse other parameters of visual comfort such as the uniformity of illuminance, contrasts or glare due to the openings.
