Experiments and researches of reading lighting for the elderly
Reading is an important activity for the elderly, one that depends on the condition of the visual system. Since the visual system declines from childhood to old age, reading ability and enjoyment can be increasingly difficult as a person ages. Lighting is one of the factors that affect reading ability and enjoyment. The purpose of this project was to study a variety of reading lighting conditions in an attempt to identify those that are the most favorable for reading by elders (especially the ChineseJ.The data were analyzed using a repeated measures analysis of variance with the SPSS 11.5 software package. In conclusion, an illuminance of over 1000lx produced the highest visual performance and was the most preferred by elderly subjects. Furthermore, the subjects rated a black background the most favorably.
