Analyzing the luminous efficacy of solar radiation under clear sky conditions
The study involves the development of luminous efficacy models for global, beam and diffuse solar radiation. Towards that direction, climatic data of 5 years, provided by the National Observatory of Athens (N.O.A), were organized in groups representing the various sky types, the luminous distribution of which is defined in the CIE General Sky Standard. In order to investigate the relationship between luminous efficacy and other parameters (i.e. solar elevation Ys, clearness index of the atmosphere Kt, Id/Ig, etc) the data were processed with the aid of the widely used computer program for statistical analysis S.P.S.S. The proposed luminous efficacy models were derived through the analysis, correlation and linear regression of the accepted values of measured data. Statistical analysis techniques were used for the assessment of their performance, as well as for the evaluation of the accuracy in predicting illumination.
