Environmental brightness estimation for asymmetrically illuminated space
The purpose of this study is to investigate the environmental brightness and the evaluated uniformity for asymmetrically illuminated space.We performed an experiment using model boxes. In the experiment, the subject evaluated environmental brightness by magnitude estimation method (ME method), and uniformity by 5-step evaluation.The results of the experiment shows that (1) brightness evaluation of the inside of the box without side-light is bigger than that without side-light as the same mean horizontal illuminance, (2) the evaluated uniformity has strong negative correlation with the uniformity ratio of illuminance (Minimum horizontal illuminance/Maximum horizontal illuminance), (3) the existing models have applicability to asymmetrically illuminated space.
