Method of lighting design to retain viewability in low illuminance at museum

Museum is a special building whose roles are both preservation of art works and showing exhibitions, so lighting design needs a balance between protection from damages and satisfaction of viewers. Recommended illuminance guidlines of preservation for damage are setteled in some countries, on the other hand, there is no index for viewability.The Aim of this paper is to know an applicable brightness value of showpieces and develop a quantitative method forcused on viewability.
