Pilot Study on Daytime Color Appearance of Retroreflective Sheeting
In this experiment, reference instrument measurements of the chromaticfty of retroreflective materials were compared with human visual perceptions of their colors under daytime conditions. A hue scaling method was used to measure perceived color. Four white and four yellow sample chromaticities were measured for six types of retroreflective materials, as well as one diffuse non-retroreflective material. The pattern of results obtained with instrument measurements were found to be consistent with human perceptual data.
