Specific problems of exterior glare
Phenomena of glare becomes to be a crucial aspect of the quality of lighting systems both in interiors and exteriors. But while quite adequate methods for assessment and evaluation of glare are available for interior lighting, situations in exteriors are less studied and suitable methods are still inavailable. Importance of exterior glare is underlined by risk of traffic accidents and emphasized by very low background luminances. Research aims to develop a suitable method for evaluation of glare in exteriors in such situations that are insufficiently described by currently available methods. First experiments performed on test persons are intended to obtain data to set the boudary conditions for next investigations. These results as well as methodology of investigation are briefly presented in this paper.
