Ultraviolet germicidal irradiation——a technology to control the transmission of airborne pathogens
This paper provides an overview of laboratory and field research investigations of UVGI efficacy, design and human safety for both in-duct and upper air applications. UVGI, primarily 254 nm UVC energy, is an environmental control technology increasingly used for air cleansing within buildings, in combination with filtration and dilutional ventilation. The Commission Internationale De LEclairage CIE has published (CIE 155:2000) the TC 6-35 report on UVGI air cleansing. Since this publication in 2003, further advances in UVGI application have taken place.
