Studies on Curtain Grouting for TGP Right-Bank Foundation Rock
The right bank foundation rock of the Three Gorges Project (TCP) is mainly the diorite biotite plagioclase granite of pre-Sinian. Crevices develop in the rock body, mostly tightly closed with weak permeability and few steep-dip crevices relatively closed with strong permeability. It is evidently characterized with inhomogeneous and anisotropic permeability. Furthermore, construction is carried oat in the foundation pit protected under high cofferdams. The head difference between the pit and outside of the cofferdam is 119.8 m at maximum. In implementing curtain grouting for the foundation rock, it is difficult to block the crevices of strong permeability. In view of the permeability of rock body and the working conditions, rational arrangement of curtains and way of grouting have been adopted and good effects achieved.
