The Application of Fluid Inclusions to Reservoir Analysis in the South Slope of Dongying Depression

Geochemical analysis of petroleum inclusions in reservoir sandstones in the Shengli oilfield is used in combination with burial history modeling to reveal how and when these structures received their hydrocarbon charges. Analysis of normal alkane and biomarker distributions in fluid inclusions provided information on the changes in the depositional environment and maturity of petroleum hi the various reservoir strata over tune. The biomarkers in extracts of oil-bearing inclusions show maturity signatures which are lower than those found for the core extracts and DST oils in the south slope. There are two accumulation phases of petroleum reservoirs in the south slope. The first period occurred hi the Late Oligocene phase. At that time the amount of oil and gas accumulation was limited and most of petroleum formed in the early trap of deeper zones. Because of the Himalayan movement, the Dongying depression were uplifted regionally and eroded away. The hydrocarbon expulsion of source rocks might be interrupted. The second filling phase took place from the Miocene to Pliocene.
