Use of the BLAST-CODE Model in Wai-tou-shan Open Pit Mine
Hast design is a critical factor dominating fragmentation and cost of actual bench blasts and the BLAST-OODE model is developed for use in bench blast design. All the technical parameters designed with it are determined in accordance with field geological and topographic conditions as well as detonation characteristics of the explosive products in use. Fragmentation and muck-pile profile from a blast can also be predicted as design is completed with the software. The use of the BLAST-CODE model in Wai-tou-shan open pit mine demonstrated that selection of the technical parameters is fairly reliable and the blast result prediction is fairly accurate due to the actual factors that may significantly affect fragmentation are all taken into consideration.
