Blasting Technique for Demolishing 300 Plus 100kt Compound-Cofferdams at YONGYUE Dockyard, Zhoushan, China
300 Plus 100kt Compound-Cofferdams at YONGYUE Dockyard in Zhoushan, China were demolished at one time. This project was very complicated, especially it was very close to a dock and a great amunt of concrete volume had to be removed. In order to ensure the success of the project, many measures are taken, such as: optimization of the blasting parameters,conquering the difficulties in drilling and blastbole formation. Millisecond blasting method was used and the quantity of explosives used in one time was controlled effectively. In addition, the protection measures for the safety of ground surface and underwater were adopted. The detail of these measures was explained in this paper.
