The Multi-center Study on Alzheimers Disease Using FDG PET
The multi-center FDG PET data of normal controls and patients with probable Alzheimers disease (AD) were analyzed using SPM (statistical parametric mapping). The results have shown that the hypo-metabolic cerebral areas of patients with probable AD, comparing with health controls, were very consistent in the results of four group data from three PET centers. The significant hypo-metabolic areas located at the posterior cingulate, the joint area of temporal, parietal and occipital cortex, the inferior temporal gyrus and prefrontal cortex. The results of this multi-center study indicated that FDG PET scans might provide a reliable reference marker for AD diagnosis.
