A Novel Cylinder Microelectrode Array with Varying Penetrating Length for Optic Nerve Prosthesis
This paper describes the design and fabrication of a microelectrode array with varying penetrating length that can be used for stimulating different sites in the optic nerve fiber. Twelve Teflon insulated tungsten micro-wires (Φ 100 μm) with inter-electrode spacing of 0.3 mm were arranged on a 3×4 array, and the substrate of the array is made of medical grade PMA tube. In order to verify the feasibility of this microelectrode array design, the electrical characteristic of the microelectrodes was tested and electrical evoked potentials (EEPs) of albino rabbits were recorded.
