Multi-channel Microelectrode Recording of MUA in Cat Visual Cortex by Electrical Stimulation in Optic Nerve
Artificial means for restoring vision of blinds are proved to be able to elicit visual perceptions successfully. Optic nerve stimulation with penetrating microelectrodes is proposed as one of these means to treat the blinds with retina diseases, such as RP or AMD. This study is to investigate the multi-channel microelectrode recordings of multi-unit activities (MUA) in cat visual cortex by electrical stimulation in different patterns and at different sites of optic nerve. The results imply that there is some possible mapping relationship between the optic nerve and visual cortex.
