The Effect of Organizational Structural Inertia on Strategic Change: Evidence from Turbulent Environment

In general, the organizational structure has important effect on strategy. Especially, when the structure has extreme inertia, the structural inertia will have an important impact on strategic change. Based on many researches, the author divides the structure into five dimensions: formalization, centralization, integration, complexity and institutionalization, then data are collected by questionnaire. In the conclusion, formalization and complexity dimension have effects on strategic change to some extent. What is important is that the institutionalization has great, positive impact on strategic change, which is contrary to the conclusions drawn from American samples.
