Diversification Strategy and Performance of Chinese Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs): an Empirical Analysis
Diversification and performance is one of the central topics of strategy management research topic. This paper empirically examines effects of diversification on performance of Chinese small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the results suggest a curvilinear relationship between them: that is, they are positively related up to a point, beyond which a further increase in diversification will result in declining performance. This implies that Chinese SMEs should consider optimal levels of diversification when business lines are expanded.
