Strategic Capabilities, Strategic Orientation and Firm Performance: a Comparative Study of SOEs in Western and Eastern China
This paper studies the relationship among strategic capabilities, strategic orientations and firm performance under a transitional background. Survey is used to collect data of State owned enterprises (SOEs) located in western and eastern areas of China. Empirical results show that strategic capabilities influence strategic orientations significantly, especially the effect of management capabilities. Riskness orientation is positively and significantly related to firm performance. The implication of this research is discussed.
