An Empirical Analysis of Regional Logistics Specialization in China

摘要：

This paper describes the regional distribution of China logistic industry and its changes by the analysis of statistic data of China Logistic Industry from 1999 to 2004. Based on recent research on agglomeration literature a set of new indexes and methodologies are constructed to analyze regional logistics specialization and the similarity of logistics industry among different regions. The analysis results suggest that the degrees of both regional logistics specialization and inter-region similarity have increased since 1999. This paper concludes that the logistic characteristics between different regions can be explained by resources endowment and externality theory, and the degree of regional logistics specialization is influenced by both dominant industries specialization level and inter-region similarity between regional economics.
