Analysis on the Relationship between Enterprise Performance and Manufacturing Information Engineering (MIE): a Case of Chinese Enterprises

Manufacturing Information Engineering (MIE) is important not only because of its contribution to the increase of efficiency but also because of the competition in economic globalization. Data in this paper is from sampling survey of firms activities in Shandong Province, and it is used to examine the relationship between enterprise performance and indices of MIE. 16 indices, from 5 aspects, respectively named information strategy, basic foundation, information application, human resources, and information safety, are used to measure the relationship between the level of MIE and enterprise performance. The results show that there is a positive relationship between enterprise scale and rate of application of distribution internet, and there is also a negative relationship between management costs and rate of prevalence of internet. Production investment has a significant positive relationship with rate of application of distribution internet, while enterprise profit has positive relationships with the rate of information collected by computer and degree of decision support system in the process of MIE.
