The Study on the Characteristics of Ground Pressure Behaviors in Thick Seam Coal Faces
The reserve of thick coal seam in China is abundant. The present methods to excavate thick seam are: conventional slicing mining, top-coal caving, and the great-height mining and fully-mechanized coal mining. Compared with the conventional slicing mining, top-coal caving and the great-height mining and fully-mechanized coal mining has an advantage of exploiting a full coal seam height. Based on data of the strata control observation from four thick seam coal faces, the characteristics of ground pressure behaviors are analyzed between the uphill mining face and the downhill mining face in the great-height and fully-mechanized coal face, between the great-height and fully-mechanized coal face and the fully mechanized top-coal caving coal face. The results of the research are significant in guiding the selection of proper mining method and the management of the roof over thick seam coal face.
