Analysis of the Safety of Longwall Mining under Water Body——Case Study
Coal mining under water bodies needs to ensure the safety of the underground coal mine from flooding. On the other hand, the surface or ground water resources also need to be protected from damage. Based on field reconnaissance and data collection, the fractured zone in overburden strata and surface movement and deformation after longwall mining were predicted according to the specific mining and geologic conditions in Micun Coal Mine, China. Then the safety of longwall mining under the water body was analyzed and evaluated in this paper. The results show that there are very thick overburden strata between the top of the fractured zone and the bottom of the water body after undermining it. So the fractured zone in the overburden strata cannot reach the bottom of the water body. The effects of longwall mining on the dam were also analyzed based on the predicting results of surface movement and deformation. At last, the technically protective measures are put forward.
