Study on Key Strata of Hard and Soft Composite Roofs and Their Breaking Intervals
In order to control the rock pressure around coal face, it is necessary to determine the key strata and their breaking intervals. Taking Baijiao Coal Mine as an example, the key strata and their breaking intervals of hard and soft composite roofs are determined by using three methods which contain analog simulation experiment, key strata theory and numerical simulation. The results show that the first hard strata, the second hard strata and the third hard strata which break one after another are the inferior key strata. The fourth to the sixth hard strata are the combined key strata, and the average breaking interval of roof is 114m. Breakage of the key strata over the coal face leads to behavior of rock pressure when it is progressed at 108.2m. The application of engineering practice indicated that, through properly combined of the three methods, the key strata and their breaking intervals of hard and soft composite roofs can accurately be determined. Besides, the results provide references to coal face support and rock pressure control.
