The Rheological Characteristic of Mine Soft rock and Elastic-viscous-plastic Model
For stability assessments as well as support design, it is important to understand the rheological behavior of the soft rock in mining. To characterize rock behavior for engineering purposes, elastic-plastic model is usually considered thus neglecting the time influence on the deformation mechanisms. Ignoring this influence could lead to large discrepancies between predicted data and real field conditions. For studying the time influence on the soft rock behavior, we have conducted a series of creep tests in the uniaxial and triaxial conditions. The specimens have been obtained from Nantong Mine located in Southwest China. The creep tests follow the particular stepwise loading paths, in order to study the combined influence of the loading history and time. Based on the tests, the elastic-viscous-plastic model of soft rock is presented, and the parameters of this model are obtained with the Marquardt method of least square method. It points out that the isochronal stress-strain relations of soft rock is linear approximately when it is tested in the one-dimensional creep test. And in the three-dimensional creep test, the relation becomes nonlinear. Comparing the experimental results to the theoretical analysis results, they are found approximately inosculating, the reasons that maybe lead to difference between theoretical results and test ones are also analyzed.
