Study on Influence of Compound Chemical Additives of Water Mist on Fire Extinguishment Validity

The efficiency of pure water mist and water mist with compound chemical additives to extinguish kerosene pool fire is investigated. The optimal composition of additives is obtained by orthogonal experiments. Comparison has been experimentally made between the fire extinguishing efficiency of pure water mist and that of water mist containing compound chemical additives in terms of time of fire extinguishment, evolution history of flame temperature, production rate of smoking gas, temperature change of smoking gas, intensity variation of flame, etc. The results show the intensity of flame is reduced obviously, the time of fire extinguishing decrease quickly, the temperature of fire descend very fast and the consumption rate of O2 and release rate of CO2, CO diminish dramatically too.
