Research on Coalfield Fire Survey in Wuda Mining Area Based on Thermal Infrared Remote Sensing
As to the burning intensity and the distribution of coal fire, China has become one of the severest countries in the world and Wuda coalfield fire in West Inner Mongolia has become the largest area and the fastest spread speed in China. Since the aerial thermal infrared image has very high spatial resolution and high thermal resolution, this technology is very useful for coalfield fire detection and gradually come into a fully developed method of coalfield fire monitor. This paper first introduces the history of coalfield fire survey in Wuda mining area, and presents the principle, method and application of aerial thermal infrared remote sensing technology Wuda Coalfield and Coalfield Fire. The process of coal fire area survey can be divided into 4 steps: (1) The aerial infrared information capture; (2) Geometry correction of thermal infrared aerial image; (3) Establishment the signature of image interpretation; (4) The fieldwork validation of coal fire survey. In 2005, Beijing State Land Resource Remote Sensing Company(BRSC) completed the second survey for Wuda coalfield fire in less than 3 months by the aerial thermal infrared remote sensing technology. This survey modified the origin boundaries of fire area, validated that there were 18 coal fire areas (2 new areas) which was 4.259 million m2 in total, expanding 1.183 million m2 in five years.
